Presented annually with the World of Concrete, the Most Innovative Products Awards program showcases many products exhibited at the show that was held in Las Vegas, January 22-25, including the Rusoh® Eliminator® extinguisher. The Awards allow World of Concrete attendees and audiences of the magazine, Concrete Construction, an opportunity to vote for the products they see as most innovative. Winners are also selected by a panel of industry experts, as well as by the editors of Concrete Construction. Winning products are chosen based on the innovation they bring to the industry. This year’s products were grouped into ten categories. The Rusoh® Eliminator® fire extinguisher was named “Editor’s Choice” in the General Construction Tools and Equipment Category. “We’re thrilled that the Rusoh® Eliminator® fire extinguisher is being recognized for its innovation; exactly what this fire extinguisher is all about,” said Douglas Frederick, COO of Rusoh Inc.’s parent company National Presto Industries, Inc. The Rusoh® Eliminator® is the world’s first and only self-service, self-reloadable extinguisher. With its array of innovative features, the extinguisher takes fire protection to the next level. Unlike traditional extinguishers, it contains zero pressure until activated. With the built-in patented Rusoh® fluffing wheel system, the user can perform on a regular 30-day schedule the kind of maintenance that is currently available only through a licensed service person every six-years, ensuring that the extinguishing agent is always in the requisite fluid state to put out a fire. Using the accessory reloading kit, a layperson can reload the extinguisher in a matter of minutes, eliminating the need for and the cost of third party servicing. In terms of putting out a fire, the Rusoh® extinguisher is superior. An intuitive ergonomic design makes the extinguisher both comfortable to hold and easy to activate; an integrated hose and valve enables the user to deliver the extinguishing agent with complete control; and the unique nozzle expels a wider and more effective discharge pattern. Finally, the extinguisher’s rugged polymer housing eliminates corrosion inherent with traditional metal extinguishers. Press Release – Will your fire extinguisher work in brutal cold?

Extreme cold temperatures affect everything. Even the ability to put fires out. With cold weather, people often wonder things like:• Will my fire extinguisher work if it’s hanging in my garage or shed?• What if I didn’t take it out of my boat while the boat is stored for the winter?• Will I be For Immediate Release January 30, 2019 Contact:  Randy Lieble Rusoh, Inc. (715) 839-2164 Will your fire extinguisher work in brutal cold? Extreme cold temperatures affect everything. Even the ability to put fires out.  With cold weather, people often wonder things like: How will you know your fire extinguisher will work when you need it? UL (Underwriters Laboratories) sets performance standards for all portable fire extinguishers, which manufacturers must pass. Fire extinguishers are tested in a controlled, sub-zero environment and then certified to perform. Today, Rusoh, Inc., based in Eau Claire, will test its locally-engineered, self-service, reloadable dry chemical fire extinguisher in the brutal cold of the ‘real world.’  Rusoh experts will ignite a flammable liquid fire outside, with no variables controlled, to show how the extinguisher will perform in the extreme cold and wind. “When we have extreme cold like this, we face many challenges. For one, in winter months, we use winter-blend gasoline. This fuel ignites easier,” said Kim Nessel, retired Eau Claire Fire Battalion Chief, and Technical Expert at Rusoh, Inc. “Also, materials like silicone, rubber, and polymer become stiff. Equipment could get brittle in extreme environments.” “And, when we’re cold, obviously we don’t have as much dexterity.  It’s harder to move and more strength is required to operate equipment.” These are just some of the ‘real-world’ challenges that must be evaluated and adjustments made through design changes, Nessel said.  Cold temperatures reduce pressure in traditional stored pressure extinguishers and performance can be affected.  The Rusoh Eliminator fire extinguisher is engineered for all-weather performance. “We can’t get more extreme conditions than we have today,” Nessel said. A fire demonstration will be conducted at the CVTC Fire Safety Center, 3617 Campus Road, today, January 30, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. when temperatures are forecast to be 25° F below zero. Anyone can view the fire from inside the building or the garage area. Rusoh, Inc. is a subsidiary of National Presto Industries, Inc. which operates in two business segments. Isuzu Recalls Trucks Due to Defective Kidde Fire Extinguisher

Recently, Kidde announced a product safety recall implemented in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and a motor vehicle equipment safety recall implemented under the authority of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA Recall No. 17E-062). CONDITION Kidde has determined that certain fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to activate, posing a risk of failure to discharge. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard. Also, according to Kidde’s regulatory filings, if a fire extinguisher malfunctions, “it can increase the risk of an injury in the event of a fire.” As a result, the affected units are being recalled. Isuzu N-Series vehicles that were wholesaled between January 1, 2012 and November 6, 2017 and equipped with fire extinguishers sold under Isuzu RPO codes IB2, IB4, IF6, I6G, I0L and I6G are affected by the Kidde recall.
